My Personal Teaching Philosophy

Welp, lovely followers,

It's been more than a year since I've been on this thing and decided (class required) to update ya on my personal teaching philosophy, because I am going to be a teacher. duh.

The children that come into my class will create positive rules, understand the importance of play and creating an environment where it's best to share your opinion and your ideas.  As children come into my classroom I want to help them create an environment that is safe, where no matter what we can say what's on our mind and we can talk and discuss what the best solutions are.  Collectively we will create classroom rules and stay away from the "no" rules.  We will come up with solutions to problems that rise in our classroom as an entire class.

As I teach, I will remember that children cannot sit still for long.  We will have physical movements throughout the day.  I will also remember that all children learn differently and if the class isn't understanding, then something is wrong with my methods and I will approach it in a different way.  Learning is fun, its not all about tests and papers and worksheets.  I believe that children learn better through applying things to their prior knowledge.  Helping them build that prior knowledge is part of my job, so they can relate things into their personal life.  Learn through experience is the best way to teach, and that's how I will do it.

Every class will be different and I won't be able to use a lot of the same materials, but it doesn't matter because I want what's best for those children.

I am not only a teacher to teach subjects but to be a life long friend and help these children work through issues.  As a teacher I can help these children to understand their full potential and really "go for gold" (name that movie).

I love to be able to be in a profession where I can help children be their best everyday.

Here are three links that have great insight into teaching in the classroom.

Thankful Thursday

I have missed many Thankful Thursday's, but as the school year progresses I will try and remember all that I have to be thankful for and I'll try to let you know what I'm thankful for.

This is my car, but in grey.  I am grateful that it got me and all my belonging to Logan safely.  Especially because I was unable to see out my back window, and my two back seat windows and barley out of my passenger side window.  So, thanks Hyuandi for making the trip safe.

If you don't think this mountain range is beautiful, there could very well be something wrong with you.  For Labor Day I went to Star Valley, WY to see my grandparents and keep going North into Yellowstone and passed these mountains called The Tetons. Pictures do not do justice.  Old Faithful is also one of the most interesting natural things on earth today.  I'm grateful that I can run away for a weekend and see so many new and amazing things.  I live in such an amazing place.

In this very competitive economy we live in I am so grateful to have a job.  The third day I was in Logan, I got a job.  It was just what I wanted too.  I am the after school secretarty for an after school program at a middle school here in the valley.  It's been the first week of work and I love it.  I can't wait to get to know the kids better and know the teachers better as well.  I am just so happy that I was able to find a job.

Today, I'm happy. Tomorrow I will be happy and forever I will be happy. I have so much to be grateful for.

Thankful Thursdays

I remember I once received a gratitude journal.  It said every time I felt like asking “Why me,” to sit down and write things I’m thankful for.  Now, I don’t feel like asking “why me,” but I know if I realize all the astonishing things I have in my life I will be a happier person.  I’ve decided to do this Thankful Thursdays every week.  I think the blogging will be harder than thinking of things I’m thankful for.  Here it goes for the starting of, at least, a dozen Thankful Thursdays.

  • New Puppies and Old Dogs
    • I think we'll name the new one Spur and Spook is the full growth one, of course.

  • Aggie License Plates
    • Mine will be here in 3-4 weeks. I'm way excited. They'll say "B Rae". They'll look amazing on my car.

  • Justin Moore
    • Enough said
Outlaws Like Me is a remarkable CD and look at him!

  • Kaiden Hubbard
    • Sorry, no picture. I work at a place called The Learning Ladder. It's a daycare, I really really enjoy my summer job. :) There is a kid named Kaiden, who is 4 years old. He had olive skin and very pretty brown eyes.  He's kind of a trouble maker and likes to throw rocks on the playgroud (which is against the rules).  I leave work before his mom comes to pick him up, so he has to give me a goodbye kiss everyday. It's probably one of my favorite things, it makes my day.  Kaiden has this personality that just makes you want to bottle it up and give a little to everyone.  He makes my day.  His laugh catches your attention and you can't help but laugh, and stare at his face, because it lights up the entire room.  He's hard to get mad at because he tilts his head, gives you a smile and says something hilarious; it makes you forget why you were mad at him in the first place.  I love that boy.  He really does make my day, everyday.

  • Jade, I'm thankful for you too. Sorry I'm confessing my love to a 4 year old and a married country singer.  You're still my number one.  :)

City Horse

I moved. home. . .
Cool, I know.
Big City of Parowan, Utah.

Wednesday - May 4, I left Logan for the summer and made the travel in my packed car southbound.

When I was bringing boxes into my house, I heard my parents talk about a "her" my first thought - WE GOT A NEW DOG. (because Spook is a boy - duh) That thought was False. Very False. They said things like did you feed "her".  Did you mean to let "her" do that. When you stand in the front of the kitchen you can see out the back door. . . I'm standing there, talking to my parents, just hanging out, ya know.  But then, I see a shadow on the cinderblock fence, all the sudden
                         out pops. . . . . . . .

SAGE!!

Sage is a horse - obviously.
No, there wasn't a new woman at our house. Only one of the horse. haha. Mind you that I live in a neighboorhood.

I just started to laugh at how redneck I am sometimes.

I love Sage.  She only got to stay at our house for one night, then she had to go back to the farm with the other Pony's.  I think she was sad that she didn't get to be a City Horse anymore.

I'm very happy to be home. I really missed my family.  It'll be a great summer.
Nowwww, if I could just find a job. huhhhpm.

The Easter Bunny came! He came to see Jade mostly. . . He hid eggs all over the house.  It was quite the morning on Easter Sunday.  Since I work almost every Sunday, I was very pleased to have Easter off. We went to Church, Jade, Alex, Bailey.  It was nice. I hope at my job that I'll hopefully get soon, I don't have to work Sunday's.  It's a family day, not a working day.

The Easter Bunny hid them very well.

Showing off all the Prizes!

I'm going home for the summer.  Which is silly, because I've turned down two jobs.  But, I'm very excited to move home.  I really feel like its what I should do. One in Jackson Hole and the one I have in Logan.  Hopefully something comes in Cedar/Parowan. hahahaa, Good luck.

Next semester should be a BLAST! I can't wait to live with Alex next year.  I also can't wait for Jade to be up here. Plus, I think I should be in the education program, which is a bonus. (: I really like my schedule next semester.  It'll be a good one.

I always feel like I have so much to say before I get on here, then I forget it when my fingers start hitting the keyboard. I guess I'll just keep updating you guys. . .

I'm excited to see Spook. To move home.  To see Grandma.  To have a summer with my Momma. To really enjoy summer.  To be a teenager.  To wear new shoes.  To . . . be done with school for a while.

I love summer. Bring it on.  :)

The Library

I came to the library on this evening to finish a paper that I have yet to finish and now I'm blogging. Way to go me.  I thought, I'll go to the library tonight - it's quiet, and I can people watch and I'm not distracted by Cadbury Mini Eggs hidden in the second drawer of my desk.
So I'm in the library.  Trying to study and finish this paper, but I can't.  I can't seem to focus enough for a mere twenty minutes at the most.  I’m listening to the men behind me struggle with math homework and distracted by the overwhelming thoughts that keep imploding my mind.  I read the paragraph of paper that I just finished and think to myself, what the heavens am I trying to say here?  But I keep writing on subjects that have nothing to do with my paper theme.  I then decide to study for a test I have on Friday, good idea I thought.  No, bad idea.  We’re learning about sexually intimacy, which in fact is extremely interesting.  I never thought there would be so many factors that play a part in this stuff.  So of course I spend way too much time reading the book on things that are irrelevant to the test on Friday.  I feel very . . . informed. Haha.  I also parked my car where it’s free after nine and I’d planed on making my way to the FunPark tonight to “get giggy with it.”  My goal before I left the house was to be done with my paper a little after nine, so I could get my car out for free and then get my swagger on.  Only one problem – I cannot seem to finish this paper.  I can’t.  It’s like something is restricting my brain from finishing this paper.  I even moved into the extremely quiet section of the library to get my bidness done.  Yet, my paper isn’t done.  I feel like a loser and a slacker.  But really, who needs to know why you want to be a teacher anyways, in 10 pages.  I mean, can’t I just say – I want to be a teacher cause I love kids and I want to make a difference.  There ya go, that’s my paper.  But instead is has to be this elaborate compileazation of these wonderful and horrible things that made me want to teach.  In fact, I’m not really sure why I want to teach snotty kids.  Okay, that’s a lie, but I’m just into ranting.  I love children and I always will.  I want to teach because I know I will make a difference in at least one child life.
Maybe this good start for the paper . . . I guess I leave with that.  I’m cool cause I wanna teach.  But I can’t focus enough to finish this paper even in the extreme depths of the quiet section of the library.  Go Bailey.  Audios Muchaous.

Thursday's

Thursday's are my favorite day of the week.
I got a palm tree for my birthday one year - I was pissed, but I laugh about it now.
Red is my favorite color, and purple.
I think I'm really funny.
I do get along with just about anyone.
I love that I'm tall.
I walk a lot faster than the average person.
I don't like baths.
I like celery.
I love to dance, of any kind.
I miss my dog almost more than anything else - he's my favorite.
I have a best friend who is a Marine.
I have thoughts that constantly run through my head.
I love children, more than anything else.
Being grown-up is going to be over-rated.
I want a house with huge windows.
I love the stars.
I'm so ready for Valentine's Day to be here.
I really want to talk to Jade.
Three tests this week - hopefully I do well.
I'm going to George Strait, Reba and Leanne concert in April.
I'm happy and a grateful person.

xoxo
